Let's Talk About Beads 101: Citrine
Hey 👋🏾. Welcome to our latest installment of the Let's Talk About Beads 101 series. This time around, we're talking about citrine.
Citrine is a form of quartz. Aventurine, rose quartz, and amethyst are in the same family. Citrine is found in Colorado, Brazil, Spain, Scotland, France, Madagascar and the former USSR.
Citrine gets its pale, citrus yellow color from its iron content. This color is how it got its name. Centuries ago, its color was associated with gold and, hence, it became known as the merchant's stone. Citrine is believed to brighten up the lives of those who work with it and wear it.
Citrine is the birthstone for November. It is very rare to find natural citrine. Most citrine on the market is heat-treated amethyst or smoky quartz.
I hope this brief exploration of citrine was informative.
Come back in two weeks when the topic will be selenite. Until then, you can read any of the previous blog entries for information, education, and inspiration.
